After a run-off election, All Together AR is the new ticket representing the student body for the 2023-2024 school year with Cael Losenegger as President, Hailey Hoog as Vice President, Danny Moreno as Treasurer and Campbell Babin as Secretary.
Connection, preparation and equity, part of All Together AR’s platform, already have their first steps in mind. Losenegger said his first priority is to create a team made up of those who helped them campaign.
“We really publicized over this campaign, about 12 different initiatives that they’re very specific,” Losenegger said. “I legitimately think that within our term as student body executives, we can bring those to life.”
With the next school year in mind, All Together AR plans to put the student body first.
“I would like the student body to know that Cael,Hailey, Danny and I are here for them, to meet them, to hear their stories and to just help them along their journey here,” Babin said.
All being from different backgrounds, Moreno said he wants to cater to students that are underrepresented on this campus.
“I wanted to run because when I stepped foot at the U of A, as a Hispanic first generation, I didn’t have people that looked like me, or people that share the same experiences as me,” Moreno said. “Especially during COVID, my freshman year, but where I did find that community was that one RSO, that pizza, or something that incentivized me to go to their events.”
As Treasurer, Moreno said he plans to increase funding for RSOs to help students find their community on campus just like he did. With Losenegger’s involvement in campus housing, Hoog’s work with the Multicultural Center and Babin’s diverse marketing background, each member has a lot to bring to the table, all being from different parts of campus.
“I hope that my team leaves a legacy that has none of our names attached,” Moreno said. “I think it’s about how we can improve the lives of the students on campus regardless if they know who we are.”
Losenegger said their mission is driven by the student voice.
“We want the next school year to look how the students on our campus want it to look,” Losenegger said. “So that’s really going to involve us, engaging the communities we’re going to, we’re going to want to be in as many places as possible, hearing as much feedback as we can.”
As current Student Body President, Lauren Loften, wraps up her term, Losenegger said their board is a great example for how All Together AR plans to lead.
“She represented a class of students that, you know, had their freshman year cut short at the Coronavirus pandemic,” Losenegger said. ”And I think really, it wasn’t until this year, their senior year where you can say it’s returned to a lot of normalcy. I’ve really admired the leadership and opportunities she’s given me. I really want to make sure we’re learning from the successes that they’ve had as a team.”
From the Chancellors Ball to the MLK Vigil, Losenegger said he recognizes all the work Loften’s teams has put toward those events. With Hoog as Vice President, she said she plans to start working on ‘Family of the Year’ and homecoming.
“We’re really excited about being able to kind of expand the range of students we can reach with those events,” Hoog said.
Beyond their plans for the upcoming school year, Babin said what stands out is the chemistry of their ticket.
“We all really value each other’s work ethic and we all trust each other a lot,” Babin said. “I appreciate that we all come from different places and different backgrounds and we all really appreciate each other’s like qualities. Everyone has a lot to bring to the table.”
