Q: Where did the striped overalls come from?

A: I got the idea of the striped overalls from seeing them around the college sports landscape – teams like Nebraska and Wisconsin more specifically. My family and I own a Razorback store (The Stadium Shoppe), and so I thought that we had to get them in the store and sell them. I liked them so much that I even got myself a pair to wear to all the football and basketball games.

Q: Why did you start wearing them to Razorback football games?

A: I started wearing them to football games to try and stand out and show how big of a fan I am.

Q: How do people respond to the overalls?

A: Most people love the overalls. They are always giving compliments and asking where I got them. It seems like no matter what event I go to, whenever I’m in those overalls, it’s like I turn into a camera magnet.

Q: Have you been featured on the big screen? If so, do you know how many times?

A: I’m pretty sure every game and event I’ve been to, I’m either on the jumbotron or on TV.

Q: Do you plan on passing this tradition on to anyone else?

A: I don’t think I have to try too hard to pass the tradition on. It seems like several other students and fans have taken a liking to them.

Q: What do the overalls mean to you?

A: The overalls are like a symbol of my team spirit. They nearly cover me head-to-toe and make it clear to everyone around to me that I love the Razorbacks. And nothing can take that away from me.

Q: Where did the chicken hat come from?

A: The chicken hat also got its humble beginnings in (my hometown) Greenbrier as well, thanks to Amazon.com. The origins of the chicken hat came about from a desire to match Halloween costumes with my good friend, Mitchell Higgins. We decided to wear these chicken hats to a Halloween party, and thus the chicken hat remained in my possession even unto college.

Q: Why did you start wearing it to Razorback football games?

A: It was because of my brother in Christ, and roommate, Ben Lane. As freshmen, Ben suggested I wear the hat to the Freshman Pep Rally. I heeded his suggestion, and I wore the chicken hat to the pep rally. The collective response was one of smiles, and “Hey, nice chicken hat!” The people seemed to like the idea of a chicken on my head, and I liked the attention. I did not start out wearing the hat because of my major, but interestingly enough, it worked out well for poultry science.

Q: How many games have you been to while sporting the hat?

A: I wore the chicken hat to each home game I went to. I have tried to make it to many home games each season, but I do not have an exact number on how many games I have been to.

Q: How do people respond to the hat?

A: The chicken hat has brought many smiles to peoples’ faces, and that is fun that I have really enjoyed. I have become the Chicken Hat Guy.

Q: Do you plan on passing this tradition on to anyone else?

A: I am not sure what will become of the chicken hat. I like the idea of passing on this legacy, but I am not sure who would want to continue this. It has served a purpose that I am happy to have been a part of.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: I would describe my style as experimental chic vintage. I really love finding pieces from thrift stores to always add that little edge and would say my style is experimental because I love trying new pieces and statements.

Q: What game day trends have stood out to you?

A: Some game day trends that have been a hit for me is honestly anything that is unique and stands out. I wore black and white striped jeans with a cut off red jean jacket for one game. The outfit was so comfy, and I had so much fun wearing it. Honestly, I also think any sort of fun pair of funky sunglasses can spice up any outfit.

Q: Describe what you plan to wear on this last home game?

A: I am thinking about wearing a fun, business blazer with some cool earrings and my black Doc Marten boots for the last game day. Blazers are always so fitting and honestly look good for casual occasions if you dress them down.

Q: Where do you get most of your fashion?

A: Most of my clothes come from Zara, Urban, Forever21, and I am in love with cute, high-fashion thrift stores.

Q: Where do you credit for your style creativity?

A: Fashion is an art, and I love watching people express their artistic individuality through what they wear. I also really love to get on Tumblr or Pinterest before going somewhere to get creative, and that helps me brainstorm new outfits.
